補充:
early bird = 早起的人/ 早到的人
e.g. Special price for early birds
早到的人有特別優惠。
Monkey Business (公司)詐欺
e.g. I think there’s some monkey business
going on, you’d better not invest any money.
我覺得那家公司有詐欺的情形，你不要投資比較好。
Rat race 汲汲營營/ 惡性競爭
e.g. My brother’s tired of the rat race. He’s
quitting his job and moving to a cabin in the woods.
我的哥哥對於現代繁忙的都市生活已經感到厭煩，他將辭掉他的工作並且搬到林間小屋居住。

e.g. Jack thinks he’s the top dog around here.
Jack覺得他是這一帶的頭頭。
補充:
top dog = rule the roost
e.g. Mrs. Wang rules the roost on the school
board.
王太太是主掌學校委員會的人。
Cat got your tongue? 說不出話來了嗎？(對方害羞或緊張說不出來時可以這麼說)
e.g. Why don’t you say anything? Cat got your
tongue?
你怎麼什麼都不說？你舌頭打結啦？
Cash cow 搖錢樹
e.g. This product has always been a cash cow
for our company.
這項產品一直以來都是我們公司的搖錢樹。
A stag party 親一色男性的聚會
e.g. I went to a stag party last night because
my friend is getting married today.
我昨晚參加了我們男生的單身趴，因為我朋友今天就要結婚了。
補充:
1. hen party = 清一色女性的聚會
2. stag = 雄鹿, hen = 母雞

Black sheep 敗家子/ 害群之馬
e.g. There is a black sheep in every flock.
到處都有害群之馬。
Road hog 魯莽開車的人
e.g. The man in front of us is really a road
hog.
在我們前面那個人真的是個蠻橫的司機。
補充: hog = 豬
Donkey work 雜事
e.g. This business is under Wilson’s
management, I’m only doing the donkey work.
這事業是Mike在經營的，我只負責做些雜事而已。
A sitting duck 待宰羔羊
e.g. He is like a sitting duck for the enemy.
他現在對敵軍來說就像隻待宰的羔羊。
Pigs might fly. 連豬都會飛了！（表示不可能發生）
e.g. Tom: One day I might be a super star.
有朝一日我說不定會成為一個巨星。
Jerry: Yeah, and pigs might fly.
對阿，而且連豬也會飛了。
